This Easter was a little different for us - Cory was in Alaska for a trade show for BAKraft (I still need to post more about that) so we didn't get to have dad around for our festivities- and we sure missed him!
Friday night was our ward party but Jase was throwing up so grandma and grandpa walker took Ellie and Brig and Jase and I hung out at home. They are always excited to go somewhere without mom and dad!

So Jase and I had a little alone time and he started to feel much better...
...in fact he was feeling just fine the next morning when it was time to break out some chocolate.
I introduced Ellie to lipstick eggs. These were always a staple at Easter for me growing up as one can imagine in a family of all girls!
We spent most of the weekend at my parents house- watching conference, playing, dying eggs and eating way to much candy! It was lots of fun but we were sure excited to pick Cory up from the airport on Monday morning!
The big thing that marked this Easter was probably the fact that I told my kids that the Easter bunny was pretend. I just couldn't handle it...they were looking at their Easter baskets and Brig started to ask what the bunny looked like and all these questions and I just broke the news to them! They took it super great though- they were a little unsure at first but then we talked about the real reason we celebrate Easter. I want my family to alway remember that we first and foremost focus on the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and because He lives, we can be together forever.

Those pictures of Jace are perfect, I love baby faces and chocolate, the 2 go great together! A holiday without daddy would be different for sure, it's wonderful you have other family around to help fill in the gaps ;) Our kids know about the Easter bunny too and Santa as well (gasp) although Asher is stuck somewhere in between he understands it's not realistic but still tries to hold on to some of the fun magic, it's hard to concentrate on the real reason when there are other characters in the way ;)
