Jase Face and Jasisms...

Our little Jaser-roo sure keeps us on our toes. He is constantly making us laugh...and giving us a run for our money in the parenting department...but we love his "big" little personality. I wish I could capture his voice and the cute way that he

These pictures are all from him telling me one little story...about his cousin Tanner. I asked him to tell me what he talked to Tanner about the other day...and then I just started clicking while he kept on talking.

A few more little tidbits from this super fun stage...
He likes to be a "tough-guy" which means he can't wear his shirt. He also likes to be a cowboy all the time...if you need him to do something you can usually persuade him by telling him either tough-guys or cowboys do it.

The other day he asked us if Jesus had a car.
Me: "Uh, I'm not sure, Jase."
Jase: "Ohhhh, Yes he does. He has a truck. He borrows Nephi's truck."

Another day he was singing The Wise Man and then stopped midsong to tell me that there was a bad guy on the rock but the Wise Man chopped his head off...then his singing took on a little more aggressive sound.

When faced with something challenging (like climbing on something) he will often say "I got this" or "I can handle this".

Every time I cut some sort of food with a knife he always makes sure to tell me- "Don't cut yourself mommy!"

Excuse the bathroom talk...but- I have to... The other day as he was going potty he told me that Jesus wants us to flush the toilet. Then as he heard me retelling my sister the story and then I said "Uh, I don't think that's how it works..." Jase quickly said in surprise "He DOESN"T want us to flush the toilet" I quickly reassured him that Jesus certainly does want us to.

Then after having an accident one time he casually said- "That's too bad that I pooped in my underwear. That's very too bad."

He says "What da het (what the heck)?!" several times a day.

He just started hiding and even after we call multiple times for him he stays hidden. The other day we were in a hotel and when we all woke up we looked around and couldn't find Jase after frantically calling his name and searching (for about 30 seconds) he found that he had crawled to the farthest corner of the hotel room with his chair and was just smiling as he was back there.

He told us that when he came to Earth he was a big red dog. And that when he grows up he wants to be a dog. He really likes dogs. Mostly pretending to be one.

He tried to ride our neighbors cat.

He does a million things a day that make us smile and laugh out loud but typing them just won't do it justice. He is such a joy to have in our family.

Jase is Potty Trained...

I never thought it would happen. But Jase is potty trained!
I was dreading this day for a long time and was determined that he would wait until he was 15. We did ask him frequently if he wanted to wear underwear and go in the big boy toilet but he would always casually respond that he liked diapers. Then one day he decided that he did want to be potty trained...so we started. The first few days were pretty rough (as expected) so we went back to diapers pretty quickly. Then about two weeks later we both decided we were ready and we never looked back! He did quite well- he still had a lot of accidents but it was certainly the easiest potty training experience I have had yet. We didn't even need a sticker chart of any sort! His driving motivation was getting m&m's and then when those ran out he was excited to get pretzels as his treat (he could live on pretzels!).
Good job Jaseroo!

Jase is 3...

Our little Jaser-roo turned 3! He is such a fun member of our family and we all think he is pretty great. He waited so patiently for his birthday to come...he kept saying "my burtday coming up!" In July as Brig blew out his candles he said those words then again in September as he watched Ellie open her presents. He was pretty excited- which made me super excited to celebrate this sweet boy. One of the cool things about Jase is that he is pretty low-key about stuff like this ...so even though he was excited for his birthday he wasn't over the top about it- he was just happy.

We kicked off his birthday with pancakes...I need to get a better plate for these pancakes since my old plastic ones don't make for very appealing photos (the blurry phone pictures don't help either).

Later that morning Cory and I had a funeral that we needed to attend and so Grandma Madsen came and gave Jase her presents and then took all the kids to McDonalds for lunch. They all loved that!

Since his birthday is right in the middle of cold and flu season we didn't get to have very many cousins over (just Ammon & Leslie's family) but we still had lots of fun as he blew out the candle on his bear cupcakes...his "baby bear" cupcakes.

Jase still hasn't mastered speaking clearly yet...most people need me to translate...but that doesn't stop him from saying all kinds of things that make us all laugh and smile and sometimes shock us.
I wish I could really capture his little voice and the way he says his words...hopefully I can write a few things that will help us remember...
"my guys" (he loves his toys that he calls his guys...he even named them Carler and Deeney
"Bid" = Brig...he probably says this more than anything else.
He uses the superlatives "beary" (very) and "super" all the time.
"I Hungee"
He always- ALWAYS- refers to Ty as TyGuy.
He squints his eyes when he talks when he is trying to act big. It's pretty cute.
There are so many other things that he says but letters on a screen or a page just don't do them justice.

Three things that we LOVE about Jase...
1- He loves his toys. He is always asking us to play guys or animals with him. His favorite toys are his horses, his planes and his Guys.
2- His stances. More often then not we will look over at him and he is standing like a model or a full grown adult with his body leaning on the wall and his weight on one leg. He also makes a face in almost every picture that I take...I have to take about 10 and hope I catch him laughing so that I can get his smile!
3- He is tough- rough and tumble and an all around boy!

We sure love you Jase Henry Walker!
Happy Birthday

Jase Turns 2....

Our little JaserRoo turned 2! This boy is our wild child! He certainly keeps us on our toes...and boy do we love him.
We happened to have doughnuts with M&Ms on them that morning and so we didn't have our usual birthday pancakes...judging from the chocolate that covered his face- Jase wasn't too upset about it (but I didn't get a picture).

^^We did have something a little exciting for dinner though. Snow Soup. We don't have an ice maker in our rental and our soup was piping hot...so necessity is often the mother of invention and we just happened to have lots of fresh snow outside- So we grabbed a bowl and set it in the middle of the table and the kids thought it was the coolest thing ever to see it melt immediately in their hot soup. We decided it would be a fun tradition for Jase's birthday and so we will see if we can make it stick!^^

^^He was spoiled rotten by his grandparents (as usual!) and had a couple helpers when it came to opening his presents.^^

^^We had snow coming down like crazy and Jase had so much fun with his brother and sister taking rides on their little four-wheeler. That was probably the highlight of his day!^^

^^Another tradition (he has only had two birthdays so we will see how much of a "tradition" it really is with time) is that Jase has brownies instead of a birthday cake. This "cake" was one of the easiest ever but it really bothered Jase at first that his tractor was in his brownies. ^^

It was a mellow and happy day for this crazy, wonderful kid of ours. Here are just two things that we love about Jase:

1: He likes to make other people laugh...and he can really get us going sometimes.

2: He is very affectionate...especially to me. And I LOVE IT! He gives me the best hugs and the best kisses...and he usually doesn't stop at just one kiss!

Happy Birthday Jase! We sure do love you!!!

BaBa...

Our little Jaser-Roo isn't so little anymore! He will be 18 months in just a few days. This is such a fun age...with its fair share of challenges...teething to be specific! But one thing is for sure...he LOVES his baba. He doesn't seem too interested in trying to say very many words, but he has mastered this one. I shouldn't give it to him as often as I do...but then he asks and wants to cuddle as he drinks...and I cave. Maybe he is like his dad in more ways than just looks- he prefers drinking to eating any day!

Our Sweet Boy...

I feel like I need to post a little spotlight on Jase. He is a little bundle of joy! I remember why this just might be my favorite stage... He is so busy but such a sweet little guy. Here are just a few moments from the last couple days that I don't want to forget...

Jase is crazy about dogs! And contrary to our other kids- is totally not afraid of them!!! He sees one and will start barking until he can get right by it.

Jase has always been a sweetheart. Yesterday he just snuggled with Aunt Syd! It was pretty cute.

Today, however, I was doing my hair and then looked over to the bathtub to find Jase just sitting perfectly contented in the  water. Shirt, tie, socks and all. It was hilarious. He had climbed in on his own and was just chilling.

After a quick change- we were heading out the door when all three of my kids- including Jase- lined up by the door ready for a picture. I guess they are used to it by now. Jase will get one of his many crazy faces and start saying cheese!!!!

The moment that takes the cake however is most definitely this one. Grandpa Walker sat by us in church today and Cory passed Jase over. He drank his bottle and then sat on his lap and stared up into his great grandpa's face for over 20 minutes. He then quietly fell asleep. It was the sweetest sight ever! He was quiet and perfectly still and even when the sacrament came he just reached out for the bread and water and remained on his lap. We were shocked at how mellow and still he was and completely touched by the tenderness of the exchange. Especially since grandpa is where our little Jase Henry got his middle name.

This little boy stole my heart all over again!

Jase is 1...

Our Jaser-Roo turned 1! I can't believe that it has already been a year since this blessing of a boy came into our life! He is such a fun kid...
We kicked off his birthday with our traditional birthday pancakes. Other than that it was pretty mellow- which fits this mild-mannered boy perfectly!

He loved his brownie cake and ate a ton of it...like almost half a pan of brownies by himself...although he was sweet enough to share with everyone else!

A few Jase tidbits:
He can say hi, hot and all done.
He isn't walking...although he did take his first steps just a few days after his birthday.  He's just not really interested because he crawls so fast...he looks like a little bear.
He is such a tease...he likes to make people laugh and knows when he is being silly.
He adores his brother and sister...he particularly loves wrestling with Brig.
He DOES NOT however, like when they are hugging me or sitting on my lap. That's kind of a no-no to him and he will come right over and do his best to remove them.
He will all of a sudden feel super lovey and just plant a huge kiss on your mouth. Open mouthed.  Then he is in the mood and will pass kisses out to the whole family. It's the BEST!
He loves balls. He has right from the start.
He is not a super great sleeper...like he consistently would wake up 2-3 times a night and I would nurse him back to sleep...although the night of his birthday I did make him cry it out and he is doing so much better! There is hope!!
He makes the silliest scrunchy faces.
He has slightly strawberry blonde hair.

There are many reasons why we love this boy but the one that I will finish with today is because he is so sweet. He will let other people hold him and has a special sweet spirit that he brings to our home. We sure love him!

Happy 1st Birthday Jase!

Snip, Snip...

Jase got his first haircut.  It is hard to tell a huge difference...besides the fact that his eyes look super puffy in the first picture (he just woke up) but I am never one to let my kids hair get very long before I have to get my hands on it!
It is hard to tell in the top picture but Jase had very strawberry toned hair.  It looks pretty blonde now that it is cut but for a while I thought we were going to have a red head!

Third Time is Still a Charm...

This may sound silly, but it kind of amazes me that even though Jase is number 3 and it's all been done before...the smiling, the cooing, the crawling, the discovering...I still am completely charmed by this sweet boy!

So when Jase discovered how very helpful he can be with doing the dishes it really made me flashback to Brig being this age and how he too would crawl right over as soon as I opened the dishwasher.
And I realized once again that despite how very similar they each are, they are all so unique and have such individual and personal spots in my heart.

(Jase is 8 1/2 months in the pictures above and Brig is 10 1/2 months in the picture below)

Feel the Love...

Things can get pretty crazy at our house...three kids under the age of 4....but oh boy- we sure do have some sweet moments around here! Jase is such a sweet boy and even though he is only 5 months- he adores his brother and sister.  The other night we had just finished reading scriptures and Jase started to let everyone know just how he felt about them...with big slobbery kisses!

All we had to do was point him in the right direction and he would reach out his hands, grab our face and then go to town. Everyone was laughing and reveling the sweetness of the moment!

Jase is 3 Months...

My! Oh, My! Jase is already 3 months.  I remember thinking that seemed so far away when he was born. Now I look back and wonder where the time has gone!
A little bit about Jase...
He is our biggest baby yet- he is kind of a chubby little guy. And boy is he hungry! I breastfeed him but I occasionally have to supplement him with formula because he is just so hungry!
He has a smile that will melt anyone's heart.
He is one drooly fella!
He has acid reflux and has to have medicine but as long as he has his medicine...he is quite content.
He is so strong. He is really stiff and can support his head very well- and has been able to since he was born.

He is soooo loved by his brother and sister.  They think he is the greatest thing ever...especially Brig.
He loves his swing and has spent countless hours during the day and even quite a few hours at night just swaying back and forth.

I know that I am completely bias...but I think he is such a beautiful baby.  Ok, who am I kidding. I pretty much think all my kids are gorgeous.
I know...like I said, I'm partial.

Jase's Blessing...

This sweet boy was given a name and a blessing on Sunday, February 2, 2014.
The name: Jase Henry Walker
The priesthood holders that helped: His dad, Grandpa Madsen, Grandpa Walker, Uncle Ross and his Great Grandpa Walker.

The blessing:
He was blessed to be strong and healthy,

a friend to his brother and sister,

a calm and leveling influence to his family,

a support to his mother,

to be a righteous father and husband and to have a strong testimony.

Jase is such a blessing to each of us! He already brings so much happiness to our family.  I am so grateful for the joy that each additional member brings to our family and I am ever so grateful for the priesthood and how Cory honors it and blesses our lives through it.
