The Long Winter...

This past winter was  record setting for our area. It lasted longer, stayed colder and snowed more than it has in like 75 years (I also heard 200 years...I'm not entirely sure which is accurate...but it was cold!) It felt like it would never warm up again and felt like it lasted forever. It made work for Cory so much more difficult...so much more difficult! It didn't get above freezing for almost three months with many of the days not even above the teens for a high. We had a total of 6 snow days! WHAT?!?! Roofs collapsed, vehicles slid, pipes froze, power bills raged, employees struggled, ice dams formed and on and on and on. And everyone was pretty much sick of it. It was rough...and originally when I was going to write this post I was going to list all the things that were so lousy and hard and miserable but then I was looking at these pictures and decided to not dwell on all the bad things. I decided that we could remember that there were some really fun moments this long winter...

A few of the highlights...
Our amazing snowcave.
Reading the Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
Sledding and Snowboarding in our backyard.
Trying ice skating (on a homemade pond).
Cross country skiing.
A beautiful winter landscape everywhere we looked.
A white Christmas.
Our fireplace kept our home warm and cozy.
Lots of opportunities to serve by plowing people's driveways with the tractor.
Our family was safe and healthy.
However...we are SOOOOOOOO excited for Spring and Summer!
