We had a LONG week at the Walker house. On Monday (a couple weeks ago now) night we noticed that Ellie was breathing rather quickly while she slept. We knew a cold was coming on. Then when she woke up from her nap on Tuesday she was breathing way too fast. 90 breaths per minute fast. So we took her Urgent Care but the told us we needed to take her to the ER. Great. She had a fever of about 102 degrees and her oxygen levels on her blood were about 87 and her pulse was around 190. They told us if her oxygen levels didn't get up to 90 they were admitting her. Thankfully, her levels came up to right at 90 and her breathing slowed to about 65 breaths per minute. She tested positive for RSV and after 2 breathing treatments, the doctor rather reluctantly let us go home. He told us we were in for a long couple weeks. Long was an understatement.
We fought her fever all week. At one point it was even was 105 degrees! We gave her nebulizer treatments every four hours and counted her breaths in hopes that they would slow down eventually.
Between late nights, early mornings, and many middle of the night moments. We were all exhausted! Then the rest of us picked it up (which just meant we had a nasty cold!) and that really did us in!
Her fever finally broke about a week after we took her to the doctor and we had forgotten what our little Ellie was really like! It was so nice to see her smile again and be her silly, sweet self. She had been so lathargic and sullen all week.
Ellie and I literally didn't leave the house for about a week! I didn't even put real clothes on all week! We all looked and felt like death warmed over. And we had quite the arsenal of medicine to try and combat that nasty bug that crept into our house.
And although it sure seems that weeks like that will never end and we will never make it through. We do and we did. Now we all do a little happy dance each time the temperature gets another degree warmer and feel so thankful that being sick is only temporary and our sweet Elle is back to herself again!

So sorry about RSV! Sick kids is no fun.
